The holiday season is a time for family, creativity, and connection—values that shine brightly during JPP's Annual Gingerbread House Contest. This cherished tradition brings together JPP families for an afternoon of laughter, bonding, and a little friendly competition, creating memories that last far beyond the holiday season.
A Tradition of Togetherness
This year’s contest was no exception, as families gathered to construct their dream gingerbread houses. From candy-covered rooftops to graham cracker gardens, every creation told a unique story of imagination and teamwork. Parents and children worked side by side, sharing laughs, frosting tips, and the joy of simply being present with one another.
Special Guests and Sweet Success
We were thrilled to welcome employees from EGYM as our special guest judges this year. Among them was one of our very own JPP graduates, Adrianna, whose journey with our program made their participation even more meaningful. Adrianna who now serves as EGYM’s People Business Partner, shared how JPP made a difference in her life. “This is a full circle moment for me,” she said. “Growing up in poverty, I never imagined myself being in a position to give back. JPP gave me that opportunity through their dedication, giving me all the tools I need, and teaching me the value of education and a strong work ethic. Connecting my co-workers with this life-changing program has me bursting with pride.”
More Than a Fun Evening
While the gingerbread contest is undeniably festive, its purpose runs deeper. For many families, life’s challenges can overshadow opportunities for quality time and joyful moments. Events like this create space for families to bond, share in the holiday spirit, and build resilience together. They offer a chance to celebrate the importance of connection, healing, and growth—the foundations of a thriving family unit.
Your Support Makes It Possible
Thanks to the generosity of donors and partners like EGYM, JPP can host events that strengthen families and foster a sense of belonging in our community. These experiences help build the confidence and relationships essential for breaking the cycle of poverty and creating brighter futures.
As the gingerbread houses were admired and the winners announced, one thing was clear: this event wasn’t just about decorations or awards. It was about celebrating the strength, creativity, and resilience of our incredible JPP families.
From all of us at JPP, thank you to everyone who supported and participated in this year’s contest. Together, we’re building sweet memories and strong families—one gingerbread house at a time.
