Raquel’s story is one of courage and the strength of a mother determined to create a better future, not only for herself and her two children, but for generations to come.

When Raquel first joined JPP, she was at a crossroads. She was balancing school, work, and parenting alone and felt overwhelmed. “I didn’t know how I was going to make it,” she admitted. The resilience, determination, and purpose she needed already lived within her, but she just needed the right tools to unlock them.
Through JPP’s one-on-one coaching, Raquel gained more than advice; she gained a partner in her journey. Her coach worked alongside her to set clear goals, connect her with resources, and provide the accountability and encouragement that kept her moving forward. JPP also helped open doors to educational opportunities, enabling her to pursue her dreams while caring for her family.
Raquel has always had a passion for education and a calling to inspire young minds. Her journey in the classroom began at Jefferson County Head Start, where she earned her Teacher Assistant certification and learned the fundamentals of early education. Raquel is now pursuing her bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education with a teaching licensure. She works full-time as a Teacher Assistant, gaining hands-on experience while advancing toward her next career milestone.
Raquel’s drive is rooted in her past. Having survived a domestic violence relationship, she turned her pain into purpose. That experience fuels her determination to be a stable, loving parent and a teacher who can empower and protect the next generation. Even when new challenges arise, such as navigating her son’s high-needs developmental journey, Raquel knows she has the resources and networks to ensure her children have every opportunity to thrive.
Now in the second year of her undergraduate program, Raquel is not just surviving, she’s thriving. She is building a life filled with intention, education, and opportunity. Her story is a reminder that even when the path ahead feels uncertain, the right support system can lead to a future brighter than imagined.
At JPP, we are honored to walk alongside Raquel and so many other parents as they work toward their goals. Through coaching, access to quality education, and connections to a supportive community, we help families turn uncertainty into empowerment, just as Raquel has done. She’s not only preparing to teach; she’s preparing to change lives, starting with her own family and extending into the classroom and the community.
