When Nate and his family joined JPP two years ago, he was working as a temporary driver earning $16 an hour. He showed up every day and worked long hours, committed to building something better for his family.
During his JPP orientation, a coach asked him a simple question that changed everything:
“Why don’t you have your CDL?”
Nate didn’t hesitate.
“That would be my dream for my life.”
With JPP’s support and dedication, he enrolled in Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) training. JPP covered the cost and connected him to additional resources, but it was Nate who put in the hours to make his dream a reality.
Within a year, he passed his CDL test and secured a full-time job. But Nate didn’t stop there.
Recognizing both his drive and the potential for growth in the trades, his coach encouraged him to pursue a specialized tanker license. Nate put in the work once again, and it paid off. He passed the test and will have a starting salary of nearly six figures.
For the first time, Nate’s family, who have relied on housing supports, envision a future of financial independence. They meet with their JPP coach each month to review their budget, make a plan to reduce debt, and continue building their savings.
