Success Story Spotlight: Solangel

Solangel is a shining example of perseverance, passion, and purpose. As a single mother of three, she came to the United States in search of a better life. The road was far from easy, and there were moments when giving up seemed like the only option. But Solangel made a choice: to fight for stability, lead with determination, and never lose sight of her dreams.

When she enrolled in JPP, Solangel was on a mission to create a clear roadmap to achieve her goals and to build a community with like-minded people. Through personalized coaching, resource navigation, and a supportive network, Solangel gained the confidence and tools she needed to thrive.

Solangel holds a bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, which paved the way for professional growth. Her strong work ethic and leadership skills as a peer mentor led to her promotion to Program Director, where she now shapes the future of programming for under-resourced, multicultural communities in Southwest Denver. In her role, she trains peer mentors and leads project management initiatives that serve Vietnamese, Native American, Middle Eastern, Latin American, and refugee communities.

Solangel’s bilingual abilities and inclusive mindset contribute to the voice and heart of the community she serves, bringing passion and pride to every conversation, every training, and every family her work touches.

With JPP's support, Solangel completed her Project Management Certification and will enroll in CSU Global's Master of Science in Organizational Leadership. Continuing her education reflects her commitment to nonprofit leadership and advocating for equity, opportunity, and lasting change. Solangel dedicates her life to opening doors for others, using the compassion gained from her lived experience.

While Solangel has been busy breaking barriers professionally, she’s also raising three children who are following in her footsteps of excellence. Her children are excelling in academics, sports, and personal pursuits, carrying forward the value of hard work that she models every day.

Solangel often reflects on how far she has come in her journey. She started at a place where hope felt distant, and has arrived at a destination full of opportunity, support, and belief in the future. She credits JPP for helping her create a long-term plan and build a supportive community.

Seeking a better life is not an act of desperation; it is an act of courage. Solangel is redefining what’s possible for herself, her family, and the many others she now serves.
