JPP has partnered with Gary Community Ventures to help co-design MyFriendBen, a mobile-first assessment tool to connect families to benefits and assistance programs. This tool helps families identify what benefits they are entitled to, as well as the estimated cash value and time to receive those benefits- in less than 10 minutes!

Schedule an Appointment with Jefferson County Human Services

You can book an appointment online with a representative from Jefferson County Human Services to discuss your benefits. Appointments last less than an hour and will answer questions or provide status updates on applications or current benefits for Food Assistance (SNAP), Medicaid (Health First Colorado), Long-Term Care Financial Eligibility, Adult Financial, Colorado Works, and Burial Assistance. 

Appointments are not for completing program interviews. If an interview is required for an application or renewal, an Eligibility Specialist will call at the scheduled date and time.

Head Start

Childcare Assistance

Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP) provides financial assistance to eligible low-income families who need childcare benefits for children from birth to age 12 or children with additional care needs under the age of 19. If you are eligible, a portion of the total childcare cost will be paid directly to the provider. You will be required to pay a portion of the childcare costs to the provider based on family size and income.

Jefferson County Head Start is a comprehensive, no-cost preschool program serving kids who are 3 to 5 years old in Jefferson County. Head Start ensures your child has the school readiness skills they need to succeed academically and provides a range of support and services for the whole family.

Employment First (303-271-1388) is your partner to learn, grow and succeed! They can help you gain new skills, training, connections and work experience to enhance your marketability. Actively participate each month to create a plan and begin the steps to achieve your career goals and to help you on your path to economic security. In addition to monthly Food Assistance, you will benefit from the full range of employment, educational and health/wellness services for you and your household. 

Colorado Works also known as Colorado’s Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) program, provides financial assistance, job preparation and work opportunities to needy families with children on a temporary basis, to achieve economic and family stability. The amount of financial aid provided is based on family size and income.

Food Assistance

Food Assistance program also known as Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) offers nutrition assistance to eligible, low-income individuals and families. SNAP benefits can be spent wherever groceries are sold, including grocery/convenience stores and certain farmer’s markets. The Double Up Food Bucks (DUFB) program allows SNAP households to use their benefits to purchase double the amount paid for fruits and vegetables at participating farmers markets/farm stands.

Assistance is available for non-emergency housing services, rent/mortgage payment assistance, utility assistance, and affordable housing search. Homelessness resources are also available in the community, such as shelters, food banks, and other services.

Need help with heating costs?

 

LEAP (Low-Income Energy Assistance Program) helps eligible, hard-working Colorado families, seniors, and individuals pay a portion of their winter home heating costs. Applications are accepted every year beginning November 1 through April 30.
